CVA Girls USA Division 

The CVA USA Division teams are a great opportunity for athletes looking for a higher level of competition and a higher level of commitment in volleyball. Teams are coached by paid experienced coaches and play in tournaments both inside and outside the State of Iowa. Below you will find key information about the CVA USA division of volleyball.

General Information

Each CVA USA travel team will be comprised of 8 to 10 players.

    • Each age division will strive to have two teams.

 

  • All CVA USA travel teams are formed through a try-out process.
    • Teams are for athletes in the 11U – 17U age division (5th- 10th grade) of USA volleyball.
    • Boys are permitted to play on girl teams at their listed grade 14U and under or may play up using their age.

 

  • Paid coaches are hired by CVA and are under the direction of the CVA Director of Coaching and Centennial High School head volleyball coach Jessica Rinehart.

 

  • Types of Volleyballs used.
    • 11U & 12U play with a Volley-lite.
    • 13U and up play with a standard ball.

 

  • CVA USA teams practice twice a week which begins in December and practices until after the USA Iowa Regional Non-qualifier tournament in April.

 

  • CVA travel teams play 6-8 tournaments a season.

 

Financial Commitment

  • Season fees are $1,100*.
    • This includes team equipment, tournament registration fees, coach fees, and two practices a week.
  • Out-of-pocket costs for families for the multi-day tournaments can reach up to $1,000 depending on travel, hotel, meal, and souvenir expenses.

*Disclaimer: Season Fees are subject to change due to gym availability/locations and tournament costs. CVA currently only uses the school gyms through the Ankeny Parks & Recreation program.

Time Commitment

  • CVA USA teams practice twice a week which begins in December and practices until after the USA Iowa Regional Non-qualifier tournament in April. Athletes are expected to attend both practices weekly.
  • CVA travel teams play 6-8 tournaments a season both within and outside Iowa.
    • Coaches can opt in for more tournaments after discussing with the team parents.
  • The CVA USA Division of volleyball is time consuming, and some practicing should be happening away from the court as well.
